Broadway First School Perform With Celebrities As Part Of One Of The Largest School Choirs in the World.
Forty children from Broadway First School recently headed to the Genting Arena, Birmingham to perform in one of the largest school choirs in the world.
School rehearsals started in September, as they learned an array of songs and dances. On the day they were part of a 6000+ choir. After sound checks, David Lawrence, the professional conductor, led the rehearsals of this huge choir. They rehearsed alongside Laura Wright, the nation’s sporting soprano, ready to accompany her in ‘World in Union’.
At seven o’clock in the evening the concert began, and Broadway First School children sang in front of an audience of over 5000 proud parents. They sang with professional singers such as Tom Billingham and saw dancers such as Urban Strides in between songs.
Lana Badham, Year 5 pupil stated, “It was an amazing experience because you are not nervous. You’re not nervous because you are with so many people, but you know that it’s your voice as well.” Ethan Bramley, also Year 5 agreed: “Lots of singers, flashing lights everywhere... It was so much fun!”
Dr Browning, Headteacher, added, “The event enabled children to experience being part of a large musical event with professional support and inspiration. It is a memory that I hope they will cherish, and one that shows them some of the possibilities in the Arts should they choose this career later in life.”
