Otters - Class 3

Welcome to Class 3

We are a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 Class, ready for a super year together. All pupils follow the programme of study required for their individual needs to help them flourish and grow.  

Our Current Topic – The Mayans 

Our first topic this year is “The Mayans”. We will be learning all about the Mayan civilization, focusing on a range of History and Geography skills as part of this. In Science, we will be learning about Rocks, including the formation of different types and fossils. For more information, please take a look at our Parent Information Sheet.  

PE:  

We have PE on a Wednesday afternoon. Where possible, lessons will take place outside so please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school, with every item named. If your child would like to bring in gloves and hats for the cooler months, that is allowed also.  

On Thursdays we will be going swimming. Please ensure that your child brings a named Swimming kit, including a towel and Swimming suit/trunks. Goggles are allowed if you would like.  

Music:  

On a Wednesday afternoon, pupils will be learning to play the Keyboard and will be taught by our local Music Hub, Severn Arts, through their FAME programme.  

Homework:  

We ask the following is completed each week: 

• 3 x reads per week, each read is logged on Boom reader.  

• 3 x 5 minute practices on Times Tables Rockstars.  

• Children will also receive spelling and number fluency booklets home each half-term. These provide opportunities to practice important skills at home.  

Half-Termly School Project:  

We encourage families to get involved in our half-termly school project. These projects are a lovely opportunity for children to explore a theme together with their families and share their learning in school.  

Our current project is, “My Local Area”.
