Broadway First School opened its very own Pre-School for 3 and 4 year olds back in 2018. Our Pre-School has gone from strength to strength and we are extremely proud of the impact it has had. The Pre-School offers the same hours as the normal school day plus we are able to provide breakfast and after-school clubs from 7.30am until 5.30pm.
We truly believe that the learning experiences our pre-school children have sets them up brilliantly for starting school in reception. Led by the school's Early Years Lead, Ms Fielder and supported by Mrs Worrall, there is a wealth of teaching and, early years knowledge and experience to ensure all children are extremely well supported.
Ofsted inspected the school in March 2023 with the following outcome:
Broadway First School continues to be a good school. There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now. The school's next inspection will be a graded inspection.
The following comments were made specifically to our Early Years phase:
'In mathematics, staff in the early years make sure that children have a deep understanding of number to enable them to achieve well in Year 1 and beyond.'
'They encourage children to develop a love of reading from the early years through songs and rhymes.'
'In Reception, children quickly develop a secure understanding of phonics. This enables them to begin to read and write simple words at an early age.'
'Staff go above and beyond to provide exciting and enriching activities to supplement their learning in school.'
